Mahangeni CarePoint

Love, beyond our borders

A CarePoint is much like a community center. In a country ravaged by HIV/AIDS, the CarePoint is a safe place where the area’s children can receive critical resources. CarePoints vary in size and the number of programs available, each one uniquely fitting their local community. All CarePoints provide food, water, basic medical care, and love to their children.

KKP is excited to partner with the Mahangeni CarePoint, where Karson served in 2017. The Mahangeni CarePoint is located in the Lubombo region of Eswatini.  Mahangeni means the piece of land in between. Which is exactly what is is; a piece of land between large farms. People of this community value gardening or growing crops and most work on the nearby large farms. This community is very remote, with few resources. For people to get to schools, stores, or medical care they have to walk long distances.

The Mahangeni CarePoint serves approximately 190 kids that attend CarePoint daily. The CarePoint consists of 1 building , a playground, cooking structure, a shade structure, and an outhouse. The CarePoint is considered to be at 25% development.

Core Partnership

Our Monthly Support includes funding for CarePoint programs, including the following.

Daily Nutrition

Volunteers from the community serve as cooks at the Mahangeni CarePoint. These ladies prepare food each weekday to ensure that the children of the CarePoint are fed. For some children, this may be the only meal they get each day.

Clean Drinking Water

Access to clean drinking water is a very important. Children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of contaminated water. Access to clean water supports their physical and cognitive development, promoting healthier growth.

Discipleship & Support

Discipleship training and grief support are among the CarePoint programs at Mahangeni. These are important components of spiritual growth and community care. Through one on one communication with each child, the Shepherd helps equip the children with the tools they need to navigate their faith journeys while also addressing the complexities of grief and loss.

Opportunities to bring lasting value to the CarePoint & Community

The community works with the CarePoint staff to develop CarePoint Development Plans each year.  Here are a few examples of development opportunities from their most recent plan. 

Multi-Purpose Building

A building that is designed for hosting a wide range of events that takes place in the CarePoint including conducting classes, music class, and an area for student debates.

Community Garden

Community gardens allow the  families of the community to have equal plots to plant crops. Some families may sell their harvest and some will use it to feed their families. Increasing access to produce will help the community’s health to improve. The garden will also serve as a classroom of sorts, allowing people to learn the business behind farming. Having a functioning community garden can help to improve the standard of living.

CarePoint Fence

Improving the fence around the CarePoint will ensure a closed barrier to mark the boundary of the CarePoint and to keep people or animals from coming in or going out.

Community Bible Study

A time set aside to strive to understand the word of God. This would be a weekly study for every willing community member. The primary goal for this project is to transform and inspire individuals to transform others in their homes and families, building a growing community or people that honor God.
